Over the years, we have seen the changes caused to our environment due to the usage of plastic. In my opinion, plastic usage should be banned throughout the world. Many countries have already took initiatives to cut down the usage of plastic. Plastic is not only a threat to the surface dwelling organisms, but also to the aquatic life. Most of the plastic in the oceans comes from the land due to poorly managed waste disposal and direct littering on the beaches, etc. There have been discussions stating that plastic bags do not contribute to climate changes. But from what I know, plastic bags enter the soil and make them infertile, which in turn effects the growth of plants and trees. Plastic takes over 400 years to degrade. And at every step of its life cycle, plastic creates toxic substances and green house gas emissions which contributes to global warming. In conclusion, plastic must be banned.
